Hello, my name is Tom Thurston and I have been coming down to the La Paz Area for the sportfishing, the great food and the true beauty since 2011. In this time I have been able to assemble a team of the best captains available as well as locate the finest lodging and dining facilities around. Located right on the beach in El Sargento. This is a very comfortable and luxurious setting with all the amenities you would expect. Although there are many places to stay in El Sargento this is of the finest.

This is a very popular question and one that I certainly asked before I started to come down. La Paz is ranked the 3rd safest city to visit in Mexico behind 1. Talum and 2. Puerto Vallarta. In comparison It is much safer then most big cities in the US such as Los Angles, NY city or Chicago. Petty theft can occur anywhere in the world so common sense is always important when travelling.
The short answer is they speak some English. More importantly they are able to greet you and explain what needs to be done when its time to reel your fish in. All of the captains I use are multi generational fishing captains and have spent their entire lives fishing the local waters.
I personally have made over 50 trips down to the La Paz area I can say almost every trip has been different. However, I can only remember one occurrence that I went a whole without catching a single fish. The weather has a significant impact on the fishing and this is why I recommend building in two rest days or alternate fishing days into your trip to maximize your opportunities..
Although I personally do a lot of catch and release fishing I love to eat the high quality fresh fish I catch. So yes, you can definitely keep some of the fish you catch and we will vacuum seal and freeze it for you and you can then check it as luggage at the airport in a cooler that you provide.
The tap water is perfectly safe and yes you can used cubed ice in your drinks. Most folks drink bottled water much like in the US but the tap water is used for making coffee and brushing your teeth.
Yes, However most folks find it easier to fly into SJD then shuttle up. Flying into La Paz requires either a border crossing in San Diego or a layover in Mexico City.
